Aliens: Bishop by T. R. Napper (2023)
Story: 8 of 10 Stars
As a kid, one of the first films I ever remember watching was 1979’s Alien. “In Space No One Can Hear you Scream”, my favorite line to ever come from a promotional for a movie. Since then I have been obsessed with the franchise, reading more and more of the books to get a full picture of this Wild West of a space thriller.
1986’s Aliens, wasn’t my favorite in as far as the series goes, but it did have one of my favorite characters in the entire franchise, the faithful to the end Android, Bishop. I always felt sad at the end of Aliens knowing Bishops story had ended, I always wished just on the edge that he has made it out ok. Never did I think that would be a possibility. Dead is dead as they say, especially after watching the 3rd god awful installment of Aliens 3 with no Bishop in sight.
But with this installment in the Alien franchise I finally get my wish, knowing not only is Bishop alive, but he is thriving in this new thrilling expansion. Reading this book has given that kid still inside the back of my mind hope that even more beloved characters might also have some more story to tell within the universe.
Highly recommended reading this book, especially if you love watching a universe expand as much as I do
